Party Platform
Revised 2024
INTRODUCTION
The Independence Party is proud to offer Albertans an alternative to the abusive, tyrannical governments of the past and present.
Alberta’s political history has been defined by successive federal governments that have been determined to keep Albertans subservient to the Laurentian political elite. Alberta has never had a ‘fair and equitable’ seat at the table in Ottawa. This is why in the political history of the province, Albertans have always looked for leadership from our government to protect the interests and freedoms of the people of this province. Rarely has this happened.

In just a few short years, we have seen the erosion of our rights and freedoms as the political elite align themselves with forces that can only be described as evil. The only path Albertans now have to prosper and live free is separation from the failed nation of Canada.
As an independent Republic, protected by the best constitution and bill of rights in the world; Albertans can realize their potential, end the abusive government control of the past, and establish true rights and freedoms.

The following document outlines the goals of this party. Albertans must support this if they wish to live a life of freedom and prosperity.

The Party Platform is a living document and shall be updated as the needs of Albertans change by the membership of the Party.
Sincerely,
The Independence Party Board of Directors

iii. Shall establish trustworthy, accountable, effective, and prudent government; and

taxation they have lived under since 1905 as part of the Constitutional Monarchy of Canada.

III. ALBERTA – AN INDEPENDENT CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC
In 1905 Alberta was brought into the confederation of Canada without the people of Alberta realizing that we were to be nothing more than a colony of upper Canada. The independent mindset of Albertans is incompatible with the constitutional monarchy of Canada. History has demonstrated that any union with Canada, even when constitutional changes have taken place, result in the continued political, social, and economic exploitation of Albertans. Albertans have massive taxation without representation in the Parliament of Canada. Nothing short of a systemic change in the form of government that rules Canada, will ever bring Albertans to equality in Canada.

The Independence Party believes in a government that is “by the people” and “for the people” and intends to lead the people of Alberta to a place where Albertans have the freedom to choose their own destiny and ensure a high standard of living while enjoying the best services of any nation.
These changes, and the opportunity they bring will not happen if Alberta is governed through central Canada. Our goal is to create a unique political system which limits the power of government and gives the people of Alberta control of their lives and that of their families!
Upon election to a majority government by the people of Alberta, our Party shall begin laying the framework for Alberta to become an independent Republic. Negotiations with the federal government on the transition of Alberta to an independent Republic will begin upon the formation of government.

IV. THE CONSTITUTION OF ALBERTA
The Independence Party of Alberta is constructing a constitution for the people of Alberta that shall limit government powers and protect the rights of the citizens of Alberta.
V. THE ALBERTA BILL OF RIGHTS
The Independence Party of Alberta shall enshrine a common-sense Bill of Rights that will protect the personal and property rights of the citizens of Alberta.
VI. TRANSITIONING TO A CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC
The transition to a Constitutional Republic will be a long-term process as Albertans need security during this time. Our government shall ensure that the good of the people of Alberta is paramount in their decision making during the transitional period.
a) Taxation
Our party believes that taxes should not remain a barrier to innovation or the financial well-being of Albertans. The purpose of taxation is not to give unlimited spending authority to our elected leaders. It is our plan to create a new tax system for Albertans that will provide the revenues required to operate government and save Albertans money. A tax rate that will put more money into the pockets of Albertans as well as businesses shall be implemented. A low corporate tax rate with incentives for new businesses that will encourage investment in Alberta will also be implemented.
There will be no personal, carbon, fuel, or education property taxes. There will be a small sales tax on all items in the nation to finance government operations. There will be a Health Cost Recovery Tax added to addictive recreational substances and paraphernalia to offset related health and social costs.

We believe that Albertans should have the opportunity to live and work in a nation that is debt free. Alberta’s debt has increased as a direct result of the tyrannical federal government policies imposed. We commit to negotiating with Canada to recover the debt that occurred through the unfair transfer payments made to the Canadian government that has been to the detriment of Albertans.
Resource royalties shall complement the tax base of Albertans to ensure that Albertans maintain a high standard of living. A new Alberta Revenue Agency shall be established to collect taxes during the pre- independence period and shall continue after separation as the Republic’s tax collection agency.
b) Economy

Our Party believes that Alberta should have a diverse economy. Upon forming government we shall encourage all forms of industry in Alberta that will benefit the people of our nation. As a government we shall not be a partner or member of the World Economic Forum. We do not believe any globalist organization has the best interests of Alberta as their goal, and we shall not partner or
enter into any agreements with such organizations.

c) Health Care

Health care is a major concern for Albertans. We believe that the best health system for the people of Alberta will be through the implementation of both public and private health care services to meet the needs of all Albertans, as well as providing the best qualified medical staff and services to the people. We will not enter into agreements with the World Health Organization or any organization that threatens to usurp control from the Republic and threatens the sovereignty of our citizens.
d) Education
We believe the public should have choices in determining their child’s education with regards to private, public or home education. Our party believes that many issues can be addressed successfully within the education system from classroom size, to ensuring that students are taught to be critical thinkers. Identity politics will be removed from all classrooms, educators shall be held accountable for their performance and a high baseline level education shall be implemented.
e) Justice & Law
The justice system will be recreated, and Alberta will implement its own Criminal Code, with counties and municipalities enacting local laws. We do not believe that judges should have the power to rewrite laws that have been enacted by duly elected representatives.
Judges shall be elected, not appointed to ensure their ability to remain impartial and unbiased. We will transition from the current Common Law system to a Civil Law system so that all Albertans will know the standard by which they will be judged. Judges that do not abide by a Code of Conduct set out by the people of Alberta shall be removed from the bench.
The current court system will be reorganized into three courts; the District Court, the Superior Court, and the Supreme Court. Superior Courts shall sit in the major centers with the Supreme Court sitting in the Capitol.
There shall be a new national police force created that shall be responsible for the policing of our nation. A new correctional system shall be created with the goal to rehabilitate minor offenders and to ensure violent offenders remain incarcerated.

f) Military

Alberta shall create the Alberta Defence Force to defend our nation and to serve in times of natural disasters.
g) Foreign Relations

We believe it is important to become the best possible ally to nations that respect our interests, lifestyle, customs, and beliefs. Alberta will create the office of the Secretary of State to engage in foreign relations. The Government of the Republic of Alberta shall manage our relationship with other countries to protect and further the interests of Albertans. We do not believe it is in the best interests of Albertans to become a member state of the United Nations and shall not do so as the UN has demonstrated itself to be a dysfunctional organization where non-democratic countries have more influence than democratic countries. Many of the member states of the UN Human Rights Council are among the nations that have the highest human rights violations.
The Government of the Republic of Alberta shall not endanger Albertans by becoming a member of this organization. We shall not become a member of any organization that promotes Sustainable Development Goals, the Global Compact on Migrations, and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change that threatens the sovereignty of our Republic.
h) Immigration

We believe that immigration is a privilege, not a right. Only the best and most qualified individuals that will contribute to the growth and economic well being of the Republic of Alberta shall be permitted to enter and stay as a landed immigrant. Strict immigration and refugee policies shall be enacted and enforced. Open border policies shall be constitutionally prohibited.

i) Trade

We believe international trade is very important to the Republic of Alberta. Trade agreements shall be made with countries that do not interfere with the national interests of Alberta and the Government of the Republic of Alberta shall ensure that our national security is protected from the threat of potentially hostile foreign investors.

j) Customs & Border Protection
A new border protection agency, the Alberta Border Protection Agency (ABPA), shall be created which will be responsible for the security of Alberta’s borders. The ABPA shall also be responsible for customs and excise.
k) Environment

We believe that a healthy environment must be kept, thus ensuring the health of the nation and to continue to have resources for future generations. Monitoring and enforcement of the nation’s environment shall be done by and within our own nation through the creation of an Environmental Health Agency. As a government we shall not participate in any global climate agenda. Albertan’s
must be the masters of their own destiny.

l) Currency and Banking

There shall be a new Alberta Treasury with an Alberta currency created for the people of Alberta. A determination shall be made by experts on the best currency system to establish for the people of Alberta. The most stable form of currency determined by experts shall be established to create a stable currency for the people of Alberta.

m) Elections

After Alberta transitions into our new Republic, along with the new constitution, a new political system shall be created to ensure that all regions of Alberta are represented equally and fairly. This shall ensure that all constituencies have the right to vote for representative(s) who will represent their region and are not bound to vote for Party objectives.
